Let's fly!

Pilot Training

We currently offer flight instruction for the Private Pilot Licence (PPL) and the Light Aircraft Pilot Licence (LAPL), as well as

Single Engine Piston rating revalidations and renewals.

From 14 years of age, students can log training hours, but the minimum age to fly solo is 16 years.

To take the practical flight test, students have to be at least 17 years old.

The Light Airplane Pilot Licence (LAPL)

We suggest that you get an aviation medical issued before your start flight training, or soon after, as you require it to fly solo. For a LAPL, you require at least a  LAPL Medical Certificate.

A LAPL(A) allows its holder to act as pilot in command (PIC) in non-commercial operations on aeroplanes or touring motor gliders (TMGs).

Flight Training:

As part of your flight training, you will need to complete at least 30 hours of flight instruction in aeroplanes.

The 30 hrs have to include at least:

 - 15 hours of dual flight instruction, and

 - 6 hours of supervised solo flight time.

Exams:

Students need to pass

  9 theory exams which are

  • Air law

  • Principles of flight

  • Human performance

  • Operational procedures

  • Meteorology

  • Flight performance and planning

  • Communications

  • Aircraft general knowledge

  • Navigation

  a FRTOL exam and

A PPL(A) allows holders to act as pilot in command (PIC) in non-commercial operations on aeroplanes or touring motor gliders (TMGs).
Flight Training:
As part of your flight training, you will need to complete at least 45 hours of flight instruction in aeroplanes.
The 45 hrs have to include at least:

SEP Revalidations & Renewals

We offer SEP revalidations and renewals, either with one of our flying instructors or our visiting flight examiners.

Revalidation:

To revalidate the rating you must complete either:

Pass a proficiency check in a single-engine (single-pilot) aeroplane with an examiner within the 3 months before the rating’s expiry date; or

12 hours of flight time in single-engine (single-pilot) aeroplane within the 12 months preceding the rating’s expiry date, including

- 6 hours as pilot-in-command (PIC)

- 12 take-offs and landings

- a training flight of at least 1 hr (or a maximum of three totalling 1 hr) with the same FI or CRI.

If you have already completed a proficiency check or skill test in another type or class of aeroplane, you will not have to complete this training flight

Revalidation by experience:

SEP revalidation by experience can be signed in a UK issued licence by an examiner holding a valid UK issued Part-FCL examiner certificate or a Flight Instructor with the privileges of FCL.945.

Renewal:

If your rating has expired, you will need to take refresher training as determined by a UK CAA training organisation and pass a proficiency check with a suitably qualified examiner.

We are happy to assist you with that.
